VACUUM MANHOLE TESTING
A manhole is the top opening to an underground utility vault used to house an access point for making connections, inspection, valve adjustments or performing maintenance on underground and buried public utility and other services including water, sewers, telephone, electricity, storm drains, district heating and gas.
This test is performed after placement and compaction of trench back fill and before surface restoration. No testing can begin until the Manhole is clean and ready for testing. Manhole testing is done by creating a space inside a manhole and monitoring it for vacuum loss. A vacuum loss indicates there is an undesired barrier which can cause substantial safety hazards or worse.
Air-Loc manhole testers provide the most efficient, accurate, and cost effective method of testing new, existing, and rehabilitated manholes to identify infiltration or exfiltration problems. The head assemblies are made of lightweight aluminum, making them the lightest units available.
These units allow us to:
test manholes quickly & provide immediate leak detection
test before or after ring installation or backfilling
eliminate expensive/time-consuming water testing
The vacuum tester features a plate-style head assembly. The tester is made of durable aluminum and has a 1" neoprene gasket to ensure a leak-free seal. Sealing a wide range of manhole diameters makes this a very versatile product. Air-Loc manhole testers conform with ASTM Specification C1244 for Concrete Sewer Manholes by the Negative Air Pressure (Vacuum) and ASTM C1227 for Precast Concrete Septic Tanks.
